My macbook is in dire need for repair. The process will take over 2 weeks, but I don’t want to miss an update, so I’ve been working my ass off getting enough pages finished so that I can upload them early. I’ve pretty much worked 3 days straight on drawing and photoshopping. It’s kind of exhausting. I’ve even started to slack off by working on page 6 (which is a little less taxing) before working on page 5. I’m going to try and get two more finished (for a total of 5 pages) before Wednesday. That should cover everything.

Between working sessions, I’ve had some early morning marathons of “Orange is the New Black” on Netflix. I must say, I really enjoyed it. The characters are interesting, and even though there are multiple characters I absolutely cannot stand in the series, the show does a great job of making you sympathize with everyone in it. I finished it this morning, and everything is still in my mind. If you have a Netflix account, or know someone with one, you really need to watch it.

I feel like the reason I liked it was because love characters in general—backstories and motivations are always interesting to me. I feel like they’re the most important part of a series. If you haven’t noticed, the characters very much drive “Waking up Dead.” Everyone in “Waking up Dead” has a vivid backstory written for them, which explains why they do a lot of what they do. I am dropping hints to Will’s a lot, and I have a detailed account written on my computer of the exact scenario. I have written Steve’s, Stranger’s, Sasha’s, Gary’s, and even ones for characters you haven’t met yet. Every character has a lot behind them. Hell, I even have a backstory for the beaten-up couch in the apartment. I love feeling like characters have more to them than what you see in the present. If you have a character who is two-dimensional, you really don’t have a good character. “Orange is the New Black” does a great job with it. I highly recommend it.

Anyway, I have some more work to do tonight. I have to finish up page 6, get to shopping page 5, and start drawing page 7, which is a really heavy page. I’ve got a lot of work ahead of me.
