Occulture Shock – 11
So, first off, sorry about the missed update on Friday. Like usual, I overestimated my ability, and NYCC prep was way too much for me to get everything completed. In the end, I needed to decide between going to NYCC with no sleep, or a late update. I don’t think I made the wrong choice. Also, the con took way too much out of me to work on it during the nights. To make up for this, I’ll update tomorrow as well, so don’t forget!
The con went well. Out of the 450 stickers I brought, I only came home with about 35, so that went fantastically. However, I did notice one or two on the walls during the con…
Speaking of the Con, everything went really well. I was able to get into the panels for Mike Tyson Mysteries, Cyanide and Happiness, and the Spider-Verse Spider-Man event. All of them were amazing.
The Cyanide and Happiness panel was a load of fun, and I even got one of my suggestions drawn. Unfortunately, I try to keep the site at a PG13 level, so I can’t talk about it any further, but suffice to say it wasn’t safe for work.
The Mike Tyson part of the Adult Swim panel was great. Unfortunately, they didn’t show an episode, but they did premiere an extended trailer—I am really excited for this show. Also, the Champ himself was present. Whether he knows it or not, the man is hilarious, and really doesn’t have a filter.
Finally, Spider-Verse is the Marvel Comic event I have been waiting all my life for. My love for Spider-Man is no secret—I can’t get enough Spider-Man, and I’ve been collecting issues since the new Amazing line began a few months ago. With every alternate Spider-man crossing over in a massive team-up, you can tell I’m excited. Spider-Verse is really going to break the bank for me with all of the tie-ins. Seriously, this is going to be something you’ll want to check out if you like Spider-Man.
Also, during the con I was able to meet Barbara, Kerry, and Monty from Rooster Teeth. After a brief meeting during the Con, I attended a fan meet afterword, in which Barbara and Kerry attended. Readers: I have found my people. The NY Rooster Teeth community is awesome, and I can foresee myself becoming very involved in the group—I actually have plans to work on a logo/shirt design for them the second I finish this. We went bowling, and I got to hang out with some of my idols.
Anyway, that’s all for now. I’ll see you all tomorrow with the supplementary update.
