Waking Up Dead

And with that…

HOLY CRAP, WE FINISHED THE ISSUE! For a second there, I didn’t think we’d make it… But here it is!

So, about a year back when I was thinking the issue would be split, I was talking to my pal, Jake, who suggested the title of the next issue: Occulturation, a play on Occult (as with the last issue) and “Acculturation,” the acceptance of traits or social patterns of another cultural group. The title actually really influenced some of the issue itself, and this issue contains some of my best wrtiting in Waking Up Dead as a whole.

Also, I have entirely switched from using Photoshop and Illustrator on Occulturation, and now am working 100% in Manga Studio. The art really gained a lot from the switch, and you’ll see it immediately as the issue begins.

However, next week, I have a very special cover for you all…

Anyway, the past week has been mostly uneventful. I’ve been working on the Nerf project a little more than I should have been (and the comic less), so that’s been eating a lot of my time. I’ve kind of gone a little over budget on it, but I’ve accepted that the project deserves it.

Lastly, I’d like to welcome any of my new viewers from Canada, Europe, and the rest of the world who discovered us from reading Questionable Content! I was able to secure some Adspace via Project Wonderful yesterday, but was outbid mid-day. Hopefully there is an increase in traffic.
